Volunteering Opportunities

mar17-02.jpgBlakemore Children’s Center welcomes volunteers and gratefully appreciates the contributions they make to the success of our program. Below is a list of possible volunteer opportunities, but we are open to and welcome your ideas.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Blakemore Buddy: Be a special friend to a child who will benefit from individual attention. Read, play a game, help learn a skill, etc.
     

  • Reading Partner: Come share a story during circle time, read to a small group or one on one with a child.
     

  • Special Visitor: Share a special talent or activity with the children.
     

  • Computer Companion: Assist children as they use age-appropriate software and learn to use the printer.
     

  • Field Trip Chaperone: Join us on a walking field trip in our neighborhood or accompany us to the public library, etc. when we ride the Metro bus.

  • Library Volunteer: Help is needed to catalogue and card our books.
     

  • Blakemore Children’s Center Board Member: Meetings are once a month.
     

  • Special Events: Help with special events and fundraisers such as Breakfast with Santa, Book Fair, Brownie Bake-off and Carnival.
     

  • Do you like to paint or enjoy gardening? We always need help keeping the center in “tip top shape”.
